For the first time in years, Glasgow, Missouri will have Girl Scouts again.

Thanks to a local champion who believed in the power of Girl Scouts, a brand-new troop of 1st and 2nd graders will hold their very first meeting this October. These young girls — who never had the chance to earn badges, go on adventures, or build lifelong friendships — finally have that opportunity because someone in their community lifted the burden of startup costs.

But Glasgow isn't the only town where girls are waiting.

Across the Missouri Heartland Council, families are asking about Girl Scouts. They see the value, but like any extracurricular activity, costs add up. A soccer uniform here, a band fee there — families want their daughters to experience it all. Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland is one of the few organizations that provides financial assistance with no questions asked — but that's only possible through community support.
